How is Lady Macbeth portrayed?

She is extremely manipulative. She thinks only of herself and what she can gain by murdering the king. She changes because, as the guilt starts to consume her, it starts coming out while she sleeps, when she can't control it. She can feel the blood on her hands and can figure out no way of removing it. She is eaten away inside, which leads to her eventual sickness and death. Her motives are selfish. She wants to be queen, just as the witches predicted to her husband. She reacts to Macbeth's concerns by basically telling him that he needs to grow a backbone and be a man. She tells him that he needs to look like the innocent flower but be the serpent under it. She also tells him, in an attempt to convince him to commit the murder, that if it were advantageous, she would beat her own child's brains out.
